Have a little faith.
Keoni, our "almost" eight year old son has really taken to skateboarding over the last year. We remember his first time at the skatepark just getting used to the rocking motion as he leaned into gravity pulling him down a small ramp and the force pulling him up the side of the next.
Now I get a chance to take pictures of him as he skateboards. There's a determination to conquer the next drop and still a fear as he considers dropping in on the half-pipe.
The other day (still in October 2023) we travelled to Fellsmere, Florida, where there is a very small skatepark. While the few ramps and rails would make it fun for any average skateboarder, they also have a half-pipe that is 4 foot high. Pretty steep for a kid that is the same height.
As the sun began to set, Keoni was still skating around the park at Fellsmere while I kept encouraging him to try out the half-pipe. He said that he wanted to do it, but it just scared him. I encouraged him time and time again, "You already know what you are supposed to do, just stick your front trucks down and do it."
I just want to brag for a moment and say that he did it!
More importantly than capturing the moment on the iPhone video or taking a few more pictures with the camera, I watched him have faith and confidence in his abilities.
As a Christian family, we like to take that one a step further. We know that the Lord is faithful because of what we have seen him do in the past. As parents, we have read and believed that we are forgiven and can enjoy our relationship with God because of the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. We know that every day requires a step of faith, we need to stick the trucks and believe that nothing comes into our lives without God's purpose and divine design.
If you are seeking purpose today or would like to know more about a relationship with the Lord through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, please let us know.
